"Rumahku Syurgaku"... My Home, My Paradise is an oft cited phrase to show the love of home and family. I am happy to learn time and again how much my children look forward to coming back home for holidays and weekends. This week is the turn of Eti, my third daughter. She was so frustrated that she would not be able to come back because of last minute decision by the Deputy Dean to meet the student on Saturday morning. She had intended to skip it but I advised her against it for the sake of her future. She took the evening bus, 1 day late from her previous plan.
Last week my son Fadhil wanted to 'bakar skoloh' ( burn the school) in frustration of not being able to come back this weekend after looking forward to this. We joked about it but it shows the attachment he felt for home. Home means me, wife and family. I am honoured to be able to provide a home my children feel so at home with that coming home is something to look forward very much to.
Last year my eldest daughter came back for 3 months summer hols. The Malaysian government had arranged with the University to employ the students in some research or other works to give them practical experience on work culture over there, in New Zealand as good preparation before coming back after graduation. I had advised her to capture this opportunity; 1 months holiday at home and 2 months practical would be best. However she would not hear of it. To miss a single day at home is a great lost for her. Sometimes this sentiment seems to clowd the choice but I secretly I was happy that she did not like my advice... Hehehe.. wicked me...
My second daugher Nana had been back twice since the hols and she used it to spun jealousy among her siblings. This one is quite wicked in manipulating situations to make it look like she is most favored.. She's a darling daighter who took care of her sisters and brother since very small and I will always remember her craddling newly born Fadhil like a pro when she was just barely 3 years old. That photo of her at the kitchen door with 4-5months old Izzah looking like Julia Roberts with her hair down was among my all time favorite photo..
On the whole I am most happy at how my family turns out to be. Of course we are not perfect but who needs perfection? Suffice if we all can be honest to each other and love each other unconditionaly. I am grateful indeed. Thank you Allah... Thank You..
